Island Highlight – Tahiti

Rising tall above sea level, Tahiti is the largest and busiest island in the region, home to Faa’a International Airport.
Bustling with life, Papeete serves as the capital and administrative center. Most businesses are concentrated here, and the colorful public market stands as the vibrant heart of the city.

Often underestimated as merely a touch-and-go destination, Tahiti offers far more than meets the eye. Lush and vibrant, the Queen Island invites visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of town and immerse themselves in its natural beauty. For adventurers and nature enthusiasts, Tahiti is a dream playground of unparalleled splendor.

The island’s treasures include waterfalls, rivers, deep valleys, majestic mountains, stunning viewpoints, unique volcanic black sand beaches, and cliffs that plunge dramatically into the ocean. To truly experience its wonders, visitors should plan to spend a few days exploring beyond the main roads.

Tahiti is divided into two parts: Tahiti Nui (Big Tahiti) and Tahiti Iti (Small Tahiti), connected by an isthmus that offers breathtaking views from the Taravao Plateau, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Tahiti.” This area boasts 360° panoramic vistas, lush green fields dotted with cows, and a major share of the island’s vegetable and fruit production.

The island’s culinary scene is equally impressive, ranging from eclectic food trucks to gourmet dining experiences. Tahiti’s cuisine beautifully blends Tahitian, Chinese, and French influences, offering diverse and unforgettable flavors.
Our personal favorites include Maru Maru, Le Kozy, Pei for gourmet dining, Lou Pescadou for generous pizzas, Feng Shui for delicious Chinese cuisine, Karaaji for casual lunches, Kaūa’a Tahiti for true coffee lovers.

While The Islands of Tahiti are not renowned for nightlife, Tahiti itself provides a lively atmosphere for those seeking a bit more excitement. It’s the perfect place to mingle and celebrate like a true Tahitian. We love Le Reeftop at Hotel Kon Tiki in Pape’ete, L’Instant Présent in Punaauia regularly featuring DJs and live music on top of boasting amazing sunset views. For uniquely crafted cocktails in all forms and sizes, The Avenue Tahiti is a hidden gem on the outskirt of Pape’ete.

The diverse landscapes of the Queen Island promise countless discoveries and stories, making Tahiti an essential destination for anyone seeking adventure, culture, amazing food and natural beauty.
