Rangiroa—the luminescent atoll. And one of the world’s great dive destinations! On this atoll, the largest of the Tuamotu Archipelago, the two passes of Tiputa and Avatoru offer extraordinary opportunities to encounter and approach an abundance of diversified marine fauna. On the program are grey sharks, turtles, Napoleons, and schools of barracudas. In season there are manta rays and hammerhead sharks, and you can sometimes play with the bottlenose dolphins! Each dive is different and every dive offers its surprises... We never tire of returning to the water.
The dive center is located a few minutes by boat from Tiputa pass where most of the dives take place. It is impossible to get bored beneath the surface while watching the scenic parade of underwater life in the Tuamotu. Here, you may see a hawksbill turtle in search of succulent sponges; there, a grey shark camouflaged by an enormous bank of barracudas, or a Napoleon accompanied by a big blue jackfish chasing smaller fish!
The second pass, Avatoru, is wilder, and encounters with the "big" Pacific fauna are more frequent! It is teeming with life! It is not uncommon to encounter white tip sharks, many species of fish, enormous trevally with big eyes and graceful carangues of rare beauty.
Your dive shop is a certified PADI 5-star center, with monitors and professional instructors (PADI, ANMP, FFESSM, CMAS). Baptisms and training dives are also available daily.

Our Opinion
Rangiroa? Along with Fakarava and Tikehau, here you will find "the must" diving spots in the Tuamotu. In other words, if you are a scuba diving enthusiast, the atoll has to be included in your Trip Planner! From July to November, the period when the manta rays are the most numerous, their graceful performance is like a ballet that you will find amazing. You may also come across a squadron of eagle rays, whose elegance is pure poetry in motion. The big Tursiops (bottle nose) dolphins sometimes cavort with the divers in the pass, leaving you speechless with their friendly greetings.
More than 7 species of sharks are visible on Rangiroa atoll all year round. In less than an hour’s flight from Tahiti, you will have two dive sites assuring adventurous, exhilarating encounters.
